Christ the Light

Oakland, California’s Cathedral of Christ the Light was built as a replacement for the Cathedral of Saint Francis de Sales which had been irreparably damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. The new cathedral was consecrated in September of 2008.

This session may be the first time I undertook a ‘fully interpretive’ photo project, long before I started thinking seriously about what ‘interpretive photography’ even means.

Photos from November and December of 2008, shot with a Canon A720 point-and-shoot.
